Born in Moscow on December 31, 1978, Alexei Ogrintchouk studied in Moscow and Paris under Maurice Bourgue, Jean-Louis Capezzali and Jacques Tys. He has won many prizes including two Victoires awards for Classical music in 2002. As soloist he has appeared at the major international venues and festivals and he has played chamber music with such auspicious names as Radu Lupu, Gidon Kremer, Vladimir Spivakov, Christophe Coin, Sine Nomine and the Kocian Quartet. In May 1999 Alexei Ogrintchouk became first oboe of the Rotterdam Philharmonic and during season 2000/2001 he was selected as one of the latest generation of ´Rising Stars´, which has led to engagements at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Musikverein, Concertgebouw and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. He premièred Beethoven´s ´lost´ oboe concerto at the age of 24 with the Rotterdam Chamber Orchestra and is now a member of the woodwind teaching staff at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
