This work by Francisco Lopez Capillas is undoubtedly the peak of achievement of the Baroque polychoral style in New Spain . His Missa de Batalla, directly inspired by Clément Janequin, pits choirs and percussion against one another in spectacular fashion . Here it is accompanied by the finest pieces of the composer´s European contemporaries, whose works were also sung in the newly finished cathedrals of Puebla and Mexico City.
